Hotels in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter

The Gaslamp Quarter has the broadest hotel range in San Diego — from the historic luxury of The US Grant and design-forward Pendry, to the Hyatt-affiliated Andaz and the value-positioned Hotel Indigo. All four properties are walkable to the same restaurants, bars, and Convention Center, with price as the primary differentiator.

The Gaslamp is San Diego's most walkable downtown core — better for trips built around dining, nightlife, conventions, or sports (Petco Park is nearby). Little Italy is quieter with stronger independent restaurant density; Pacific Beach is farther but offers genuine beach access. The Gaslamp is the strongest all-purpose base for most first visits.

Rates spike hardest around Comic-Con (late July), major conventions at the San Diego Convention Center, and Padres playoff stretches. The best value windows typically fall between major convention dates — often January–February and parts of fall when the convention calendar clears.

The Gaslamp Quarter is generally well-populated at night with a significant security presence in the entertainment corridor. It's very walkable within the neighborhood and connected to San Diego's trolley system. A car is not necessary for most downtown San Diego activity.
